The Menstrual Cycle Part 3: Hormones

Hormones aren’t just about your period—throughout your cycle, they shape your mood, energy levels, motivation, sleep quality, and sex drive, and even change the structure of your brain. In this video, we break down what estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone actually do to your body and mind throughout the menstrual cycle.

You’ll learn why I call the second half of the follicular phase the “yes please” phase, and how rising estrogen can temporarily ease ADHD symptoms, while making others feel restless or struggle to focus. We’ll also dive into how hormonal birth control suppresses testosterone and the ripple effects this has on your body, plus why shifts in progesterone can explain why you feel less productive and more fatigued in the luteal phase—what I call the “meh” phase.

If you’ve ever blamed yourself for mood swings, low motivation, or changes in libido, this video will help you see your cycle in a whole new light—so you can work with your hormones, not against them.
